Trial License Issues When Tied to a MAC Address

System information:

The issue arises because GraphPad links the trial activation to the machine's MAC address. When you clone a Fresh Start machine, it typically retains the same MAC address. While this usually doesn't cause trouble, in this case the software says the license has already been used—just as it might on an earlier clone. The machine could be located on a different server or even in a datacenter somewhere in Indonesia, and it will still display that error.

A way around this is to modify the MAC address. On Linux, this is straightforward and well documented, but on Windows it's not as simple.

Adjusting the MAC address within Windows using the usual recommended steps won't do the job, because the machine's qemu.conf file will overrule any such internal MAC change. So while you can alter the MAC address in Windows 10, doing it alone won't solve the problem.

That's because the qemu.conf file contains a MAC address assignment that it relies on. You can change that address to present a different MAC, which in turn will let you use a new license key.

To make this effective, however, you must set each machine's 'Network Isolation' to 'Disabled'. Once that's done, the MAC address defined in the qemu.conf file will take effect.
