DaDesktop

FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, MS Office is not included within DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). We supply only a DD virtual machine and a Training room.
  2. Trainers should arrange a free-trial account of MS Office for all participants.
  3. If that's not possible, delegates must use their personal MS Office accounts.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've made it simple to transfer files from your local machine to your DD Desktop. Check out our easy file upload guide. The only small catch is that you can only send one file at a time right now. But you can easily bundle everything into a zip or archive, and then copy that compressed file over to your DaDesktop machine with no trouble.
  2. If you're using cloud storage, remember to sign out of your cloud account before the clone is shared with all participants.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible

  1. If you're on Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the hardware acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, according to the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not allowed to access the wiki.
  2. If you need to submit something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, just copy and paste the content into an email to the trainer (a PDF is fine too).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Add any domains that follow this pattern to your whitelist:-

  1. *.npg.io
  2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can start by configuring DD’s resources (RAM, CPUs, and disk).
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple VMs, and configure the network between them.
  3. Once everything is set up, you can clone the setup to participants in just a few seconds.
  4. If you need assistance, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. As an example: 512GB RAM can be allocated as 512GB per desktop times 3.
  3. The maximum disk space per server is 250GB, with 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM configurations are customizable.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. If you use the audio from the training room, the video will include voice recording.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work great.
  2. Browsers like IE aren't fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Have a look at your network connection—DaDesktop's performance relies on your local speed.
  2. Also, check the server location; the coordinator always picks a server close to the participants.
  3. Disable your VPN or switch it to PAC mode, and close any security software that might interfere with WebSockets, as smooth DaDesktop operation depends on them.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Remote Desktop functionality relies on Websocket

  1. It might be your device blocking it. Look for settings that block Websocket. On some Chromebooks, in the proxy settings, if the option 'Use the same proxy for all protocols' is enabled, Websocket won’t work (it sets 'SOCKS host' with a proxy). Uncheck that box and leave 'SOCKS host' empty. That should resolve it.
  2. It could also be the network, not your device. You'll need to reach out to your network administrator to have Websocket unblocked.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Take a look at this GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. In general, using DaDesktop feels just like any standard Windows or Linux machine, but you might encounter a few small issues with certain software in a training setup, particularly around cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we don't support Mac-compatible software or Mac emulation, primarily because of licensing concerns.
