Boosting Your Connection Quality
Sometimes, DaDesktop might alert you if your connection shows significant 'latency' (a delay) that could hinder performance.
If that happens, follow the steps below to help improve your connection.
Steps to take
- If you can, connect via Ethernet. If you're on WiFi, run a speed test (e.g., using speedtest.net) before you start.
- Try to stay near the wireless access point. Whenever possible, opt for 5 GHz WiFi over 2.4 GHz, since 2.4 GHz tends to deliver slower speeds and is more prone to interference.
- Turn off or disable any VPNs or proxies before joining the course.
- If possible, turn off any security software that could interfere with your network, since it can impact connection speed and latency.
-
Consider reaching out to your company's IT support for assistance, especially if your network is impacted by content filtering or similar restrictions. Whitelisting these domains can help:
- https://*.npg.io (any host under .npg.io)
- https://dd4t.dadesktop.com - Refrain from large downloads or uploads during the session. For example, pause any Windows, Mac, or Linux updates until the course is over.
-
Your internet speed should exceed 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload.
